Markets Division

Markets Division incorporates the Treasury, Syndications and Financial Institutions businesses of BLME.

These businesses carry out the following functions:

The Treasury is responsible for funding the Corporate Banking Division, for managing mismatch and liquidity risks, and for making markets to customers in Foreign Exchange and Sukuk. Both liquidity and market risk positions are managed within the guidelines set by the Board and monitored by the Asset and Liability Committee. The Treasury also manages the bank’s investment portfolio of sukuk and syndicated Murabaha transactions.

The Syndications team acts as the distribution function on BLME’s own deals and is also the contact point for other banks syndication teams.

 

The Financial Institutions team establishes and manages BLME’s relationships with banks in London and internationally. This includes the setting up of lines with counterparties, taking into consideration the creditworthiness  of the institutions concerned, and the development of reciprocal business.

These relationships are used to source financing transactions and investment opportunities, and also  to distribute transactions originated by BLME.
